At the Nigerian corner of Facebook are controversies surrounding influencers and their deals with shady investment platforms. One would suppose that the first thing that comes to mind once approached by these platforms is carrying out a simple background check. A check popularly referred to as ‘Due Deligience’ on same Facebook. Even the ‘lay-est’ of men would go as far as asking deep questions especially when phenomena such as humans, money and integrity are involved.
Probably, or not, these things do not mean much to many. For the influencers, the quick, luscious gains are enough criteria for such involvement. On the side of the unsuspecting investors, as long as the influencer has a large following, er’thing is good. However, the messy aftermath is one, not too funny. In African parlance, no be small palava o!
Obviously, people, even though, exposed to the diverse, wild activities of the Facebook platform still refuse to take precautions when it comes to getting involved with silly offers. Should this be blamed on the “get rich quick syndrome” evident in this clime?
People are usually too careful with things that could adversely affect their lives. What then could be wrong? Same people pay attention to figurative sermons on “do not allow people use you without your express consent”. Same people allow their engagements with the social media “blown” figurative preachers to take away their power of reasonable choice and due diligence. Ironic right?
Truthfully, nothing may really be done to salvage this unending occurrence except of course, the constant pitiable trials and errors. The aftermath effects being regrets upon regrets and a rave of curses which most likely, wouldn’t bring back what’s been lost.
It’s a sad reality to say the least. People falling victims for same thing(s) they preach against. Some even guilty of shading others for failed investments, now reaping the fruits of their own similar mistakes.
Unfortunately, it’s a cycle which may not end, until the most deserving of it, gets served – Hot breakfast! 😝
