Gratitude
As the year wraps its remains to bade goodbye to us, we must remember how much we fought to be here especially with the turn out of things; mostly negative and unpleasant, disappointing, heart wrenching, economy draining, Life threatening. We witnessed our precious time being wasted before our very eyes and with those same eyes, we saw our once bubbly society turn into a place custom to introverts, a place where we were neither seen nor heard. It was even termed ‘LOCKDOWN’. What a title for what was considered in 2020 as the most difficult time in the globe!
The Surge of hope as it all began on the 1st of January suddenly became a mirage as the world was hit with a pandemic; thoroughly unprepared for, heavy on the society; every single sector got its share of the pandemic’s dividends in diverse dimensions. This year, 2020, birthed insights both in the positive and otherwise, exposed the tides which we sometimes forget could turn in our favour or not, disposed the once available systemic way of life, raised a cause for retreats, tweaked the conventional universal pathway, caused a scientific controversy, programmed a weirdly distinct course in organisations, added a style in our existence and more especially, put certain things in perspective the way I think has never been. This year, as bright it seemed on the first day, however, in a blink became a time for sober reflection as other things which never would have come to mind became a means of survival and people began to be more appreciative of the life they have.
You have reached this unique landmark of experience in your existence, especially in this very year when you should, without an iota of insincerity, be grateful for everything. It makes it easier to manoeuvre the chaos if you smile through it. When you smile, it is thankfulness expressing itself and when you smile, you light up the next person’s world. The universe is wired in such a way that your impact is expedient. You’re needed to cultivate happiness through your gratitude. Imagine if everyone knew and applied this!
Gratitude births hope and hope is all we have left in the scheme of things, globally. We hope for better; we hope to see brighter days and even years;we have a strong belief in a positive universal turn around. We hope for progress; we aspire to create a symbolic glory for our individualities. Deep down, we do not want a repeat of the adversities that accompanied the year, 2020. We hope that afflictions shall not rise again. We hope things get back to normal.
Gratitude comes with the knowing that you can only breakthrough when you don’t dwell on the impossibilities. Who would have thought that you’d still be here, reading this and smiling after all that has gone down? Many were not lucky enough. The rage of happenstance in recent times sent many to an impromptu meeting with their graves. Many fell into critical casualties that have either claimed their sanity or finances. Well, It doesn’t become any different as long as life is because circumstances will always raise its head. So, Cheer up! See the good side of EVERY situation today and be grateful!
